Calculated words 3 - Totally television

|Time for another "Calculated words" quiz, but this time with a twist. All of the clues for the word fragments this time around involve TV shows! That's right, the answers involve trivia from a wide variety of American television programs. (Fair warning: most of these shows are off the air currently except in reruns.) Then you put the pieces together to discover the secret word for that question. |
Getting the secret word is a multi-step process. Each question in this quiz will give you a set of two or more clues about TV shows titles, characters, actors, settings and so forth. Each clue has an answer of one, two or three letters. (So if you think you know an answer to a clue and it's more than three letters, it's wrong -- though the answer to the overall puzzle is often more than three letters because you are putting groups of three or less together, right?) The question will also give some sort of indication of how to combine these sets of letters to form a word. Typically you add them together, one in front or behind the other. You could, however, also end up rearranging the letters in some way or removing some of them. Look for hints like "after," "before," "without" and so forth.
And here's an example:
"J.R.'s Dallas fortune foundation follows what the famous Superfriend never got off his chest."
On the show 'Dallas' J.R. Ewing was rich thanks to the OIL his company controlled. The main superhero on the 'Superfriends' cartoon was Superman, of course, and he always had a big S on his chest. The word "follows" means that the answer to the first clue comes after the second one, so that makes S + OIL, which equals SOIL, the solution to this word puzzle.
If that sounds like fun, go ahead and take this quiz to see how you do. If you end up liking it, hit the link at the end that goes to my other quizzes, or just do a search for "Calculated words" to see the rest in the series.
