Calculated words 2 - Cryptic clues

After the last "Calculated words" quiz, I was told that the questions were kind of like cryptic puzzles. If you know what those are, you should be able to jump right in and enjoy this quiz with no further introduction. These are a bit easier because they aren't as complicated as true cryptics, but they are similar in that part of the fun is figuring out what the clues are even asking. For those of you who need a brief description, each question in this quiz will give you a set of two or more clues. Each clue has an answer of one, two or three letters. The question will also give some sort of indication of how to combine these sets of letters to form a word. Typically you add them together, one in front or behind the other. You could, however, also end up rearranging the letters in some way or removing some of them. Look for hints like "after," "before," "without" and so forth. The resulting word is the solution.
