Welcome to the September Community Quizzes -- a game for quiz takers and makers. The 'Good Old Days' is an oxymoron. We walked 2 miles to school, to learn that we were going to run out of oil by 1980 and the rockets were going to take us to other stars by the year 2000 if we didn't get blown up because we failed to reach our fall-out shelter in time. Mom had a wringer and a clothes line where she spent hours each day. She had to kill the chicken and remove the feathers before she could cook it. The milk was warm when it got to the kitchen because Dad milked the cows before he left for work. We had the one radio and a car that got 9 miles to the gallon. At least movies and pop corn were cheap. We had an ice box, a telephone with a four digit number and mail that was usually delivered. The good old days included no TV, no cell phones, no e-mail and oh my gosh, no Sploofus. How were they so good? Well, read on ... you'll see what we miss and it IS nostalgic.
