Born on March 30, 1945 in Ripley, Surrey, England, Eric Patrick Clapton is recognized as one of the leading blues guitarist of all times, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three separate times for solo and group accomplishments. Front man for some of rock's greatest bands, Clapton has led a turbulent life full of triumph and tragedy, none of it trivial.
