"In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue." I learned that little rhyme in grade school, as we studied about the famous explorer Christopher Columbus. October 8, 2007 is designated as a US federal holiday - Columbus Day. Some cities go all-out, with parades to commemorate the first European to enter the Caribbean Sea. For many it's the last day off from work before the busy Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday season. I thought it might be fun to review some of the facts about Columbus and his voyages to the New World.
