Conscription & Conscience: Drafts In The U.S.A.

With current events in Iraq, a quiz about the history of conscription - the draft - in the United States seemed timely to me. In my research, I discovered that every American draft has engendered resistance from a substantial proportion of the population, and I decided to cover the history of conscientious objection in the U.S.A. as well. In fact, this quiz just scratches the surface. Depending on the reception to this one, I may follow with a second on the same subject. (UPDATE August 23, 2007. Although I consider this to be an excellent and informative quiz, as of this writing only 11 Sploofusers agree, making it my least taken quiz ever. Since it took me several hours to research and prepare it, it would be fair to say I'm disappointed, and there will not be a part 2.) The image to this quiz is discussed in question 6.
