Chicago is a vibrant exciting,city; filled with culture and many happenings. Chicago was at one time the second largest city in America; today it is the third. A pulsating port on the Great Lakes, it reaches out 26 miles along the southwestern shoreline of Lake Michigan. Chicago has major advantages- commercial, financial and industrial- and is the cultural center of the Midwestern United State, because of its location on the northeastern section of Lake Michigan. As of the 2000 census Chicago has a population of 2,896, 016. Chicago is very diverse in its racial and ethnic makeup. The picture is a view of the Crown Fountain designed by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa and inspired by the people of Chicago, a favorite of those who visit Millennium Park.
