There must be several hundred literary awards given around the world for various types of written work. Many awards honor national literatures, while others focus on literary forms, e.g., poetry or novels, and still others honor writers working within a particular genre or field, e.g., science fiction or history. This quiz covers literary awards that are given for works in the English language, but they honor a variety of forms, nationalities, and genres. For nine of the questions, you are asked to identify the literary award from the information provided; you are always told what the award is given for, and you are usually given one or more winners of the award, among other information. In the other question, you are asked to select the literary award which does not belong with the others. Note: Some of the possible answer choices in this quiz are not, in fact, real literary awards. I haved attempted to use as correct answers, relatively well-known literary awards, particularly in their respective countries of origin. This quiz features literary awards that originate in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
