|Ellis Island is a small island located in New York Harbor, just off the New Jersey coast. President Benjamin Harrison designated it the first Federal immigration station in 1890. Before that, each state regulated its own immigration. |
From 1892 to 1954 over 12 million immigrants entered the United States through Ellis Island. Among the many who came were those who were well known before they entered the US; others grew up and found their fame here. This quiz is about 10 immigrants who became known to everyone.
