|According to Stuart Fischoff a media psychologist, fixations on celebrities have become increasingly common because the people who tend to develop these obsessions are exposed to more and more sources that feed their fixations such as the Internet and the prevalence of entertainment-based television shows: "There's so much information available about celebrities that they begin to feel they know this person, and once they think they know them it's a slippery slope. They turn to celebrities to give their lives structure, some fantasy of greater fulfillment."|
