Fifties Original Doo-wop - Part 2
![]() |
The original "rock 'n' roll" music exploded onto the national consciousness in the mid-1950s. It came out of a mix of rhythm and blues, gospel, and traditional African-American music. Also known as the "Big Beat", it shocked the older generation of the day, being condemned in the pulpit, and by such luminaries as Frank Sinatra who called it obscene, notwithstanding the fact that his own song "The Tender Trap" at the same time was widely regarded as a euphemism for a certain part of the female anatomy. This quiz will deal with the music and the times.
