I've had a love affair with music all my life. Growing up I received so much joy from listening to Casey Kasem's American Top 40 radio program, which used the Top 40 entries on the Billboard Magazine Hot 100 chart as its source. The Billboard Hot 100 chart is a compendium of American Popular Music in the last half century. In fact, in 2008 the Hot 100 is celebrating its 50th Anniversary of existence. Hats off to Billboard! Where else would you be able to track the singles of Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Temptations, The Bee Gees, Michael Jackson and even my current favorite, Fall Out Boy? This is a quiz that will offer history about some of the biggest developments on the Hot 100 and some of the strangest chart feats. With tens of thousands of songs charting on Billboard's Top Singles and Airplay chart, there are bound to be some peculiarities. Let's take a spin through history and wish the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, which debuted on August 9, 1958, a Happy Birthday. Thanks to Joel Whitburn and Fred Bronson for their amazing chart statistics!
