Find the Concealed U. S. State

One of our fellow Sploofus authors has created a number of witty and excellent “concealed names” quizzes and that’s inspired me to try my hand at one myself. Each of the following dozen questions is in the form of a sentence, which conceals the name of a U. S. state-- which you are invited to find. To add a little bit of a challenge, you will not be given the name of the state to choose as answer, but two of its major cities, one of which is the capital.

Example: “Let's see...oh, I ought to know these!”

“Let's see... OH I Ought to know these!” conceals OHIO. The answer would be Columbus and Cleveland, its capital and another major city.

There’s a bit of theme in the sentences as well, since they all concern a rather unique young lady named Norma. Thanks for taking the quiz and I hope it’s as much fun to take as it was to make!
