Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas: Alternate Titles
![]() |
Most Gilbert and Sullivan operettas have two titles: the one by which the work is commonly known, and an alternate title, usually descriptive of the opera's plot. (For example, their first collaboration--now lost--was entitled Thespis, or The Gods Grown Old.) I'll give you the well-known title, you choose the alternate title. Have fun!
