Foremost among jazz's most fiery warriors and most lyrical poets have always been the trumpet players. Many of them have also died early deaths from unfortunate circumstances. Here are twelve of the best for you to identify.
I've tried to go a little off the beaten path but stay with fairly prominent musicians. There are also a few clues sprinkled about, so don't lose faith!

There are a lot of sources I've used but especially Scott Yanow's "Trumpet Kings".
