The actual E Street is in Belmar on the New Jersey Shore, a prime vacation spot back in the 50s and 60s - "going down the shore."
And there was a place called Asbury Park - back then, the Shore's only true city other than Atlantic City, 60 miles to the south.
Greetings From Asbury Park N.J. was released in January 1973 but The Boss wouldn't explode onto the scene until a couple years later with the release of a little thing called Born To Run.
