Gumshoes and Busybodies

Many authors of mystery stories invent a character and stick with him or her. The longer the series gets, the more opportunity we have to form an attachment to the main character. Some of these people are police officers, some attorneys or private investigators, and some are just ordinary citizens with a propensity for trouble - or a long nose. Mostly this group is still entertaining us, but not all. Some are American, some British. And though some of these authors have created more than one primary character, there will only be one correct one for each question. If you enjoy the genre, you will probably find many friends. I give you the author, you choose the correct character.

I actually like this one much better than its successor! You'd probably do well on my own quiz "Whodunwho?"
