Highlights From The 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics

|The Games are over now, I’ll miss them, but let’s look back now on some of the highs and lows and some of the ugly. Fortunately, due to the 16 days of nearly perfect logistics and showmanship and presentation, and sublime athletic achievement, the highs way outnumbered the lows and ugly. Bravo to Beijing and all the volunteers that participated in spite of the government’s distrust of political dissent and free speech. The closing ceremony seemed just as awesome as the Opening ceremony. China has definitely set the bar for future cities. Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and singer Leona Lewis performed “Whole Lotta Love” while soccer star David Beckham kicked a soccer ball into the audience to sort of kick off the passing of the games from Beijing to London, England. |
