Homophones Made Easy

allenaAllena on 01/14/2010

HomophonesMadeEasy Photo Which is a homophone? Clearly a word that is spelled differently, has a different meaning but sounds the same is what makes it so difficult for folks to learn to hear English. You know you should never yell Hi Jack to your friend at the airport. We all know dogs in rough Afghanistan still say ruff, ruff.

How about "What's your fav band?"
"I love U2"
"I love you too, but what music group do you like?"

OK ... you are almost ready. Here's an example:

Which word is a homonym: august, attribute or awful. If you missed, you should feel awful and just drown in some offal. Good luck. This is truly fun (and easy).

Wow, this was GREAT fun, because it REALLY made you think! You made very clever choices of alternate answers, most often using those words that are spelled the same as another pronunciation which gives the word another meaning. I had to keep reminding myself, "spelled differently, pronounced the same." Good job! I only wish the current Sploofus format allowed you to see what you did answer, to compare it to the correct answer. It's easy to forget what you chose, when you move on so quickly to the next answer.
