Hot Fun in the Summertime

|This is one of my favorite, most cherished, summer songs of all time. I remember being a kid and listening to the little portable AM radio my brother had and feeling the bittersweet wonder of the song whenever it came on. It is a very evocative sounding song called "smooth post-doo-wop/pop/soul" by Rolling Stone magazine. As the Washington Post put it, the artist "dazzled the world of pop music more than 35 years ago with a string of superlative anthems -- timeless songs, including "Dance to the Music", "I Want to |
Take You Higher", "Hot Fun in the Summertime". And as music writer Mike Jefferson wrote: "With its shimmering strings, plucky piano and warm vocals, “Hot Fun In The Summertime” is one of [his] most enduring and endearing songs, stirring up memories of county fairs and being furloughed from school. Each of the singer’s distinctive deliveries sounds as if they’re a little teary about missing those fun summer days, as well as the waning camaraderie within the band".
Well it's the middle of summer once again. And the radio stations play it now and again. You can always youtube it! There are dozens of videos to the song.
Have a great summer,
