UK TV channel ITV3 shortlisted six top crime writers for its inaugural 'Crime Thriller Award' for the best contemporary author in this genre -- Lynda La Plante, Ian Rankin, Ruth Rendell, Colin Dexter, Val McDermid and P D James.
