Jury: 12 Folks Vote Which Client had Better Lawyer

Jury12FolksVoteWhichClienthadBetterLawyer Photo We make fun of juries sometimes or at least the plight of being on one, but this story should alleviate any doubt as to who the dumbest person or at least most unfortunate person in the courtroom usually is:
The story goes that Dennis Newton was on trial in Oklahoma City for the armed robbery of a convenience store. He fired his lawyer, and apparently had been doing a good enough job defending himself until fair job of defending himself until the store manager gave testimony that Newton was the robber.
Newton leapt up, accused the woman of lying and shouted, "I should’ve blown your (expletive) head off." Newton paused, then quickly added, "If I'd been the one that was there." The jury took 20 minutes before recommending a 30-year sentence.

Hmmmm. 20 minutes? Maybe they had lunch first.
