Martin Luther King Jr. Although America and Canada observes its Labor Day on the first Monday in September, most other nations honor their working men and women on May 1. The observance of Labor Day began over 100 years ago. The Industrial Revolution was responsible for the average American in the late 1800s working 12-hour days, seven days a week just to make a basic living. What's more children were working too, since they provided cheap labor to employers and laws against child labor were not strongly enforced. I expect the quiz to be revealing.
