|For sheer quantity of change in one set of 100 years, the twentieth century takes the biscuit (so far!) - at the start, the work of keeping house, cooking, cleaning and looking after the children used to take up the wife's whole working day; by the end, most of that work was done for her by machines, the remainder only took a fraction of the time and more often than not she was out there with a job of her own, as well - in fact, sometimes it was even the husband who stayed home and looked after the children! Questions are quite long, and info from a lifetime of interest in these sorts of subjects and many TV documentaries, books and websites on them.
