Malaria-“The Great Winnower”
![]() |
This is the third of my history of disease quizzes. “The Great Winnower”, aka Malaria, is one of the most ancient of diseases. Since the beginning of written history, this disease has reputedly killed approximately one-half of the world’s population. This parasite is carried by the female mosquito, and once infected; the organism travels to the victim’s liver. The symptoms of the disease include trembling, fevers, headache, and nausea. From there, death is commonly the result. This quiz covers information relating to the historical events, people, and places associated most intimately with this dreaded disease. Good luck!
