Nutty Numbers
![]() |
You think you can add and subtract? Well be warned, this test needs more than a quick calculator. Start from the premise that all the letters are assigned their usual number from 1-26 depending on their place in the alphabet; so Q is 17, T is 20. The number 1221 could be ABBA, AVA, or LU – I’ll try to use only real words in this puzzle. 2092 would be TIB but could not be BIB. You will be asked a series of questions which involve you adding and subtracting, or even multiplying and dividing words, by turning them into numbers and then performing the simple task I ask you to do. The key is to convert the words, do the task, then convert back. So be warned; if you do not like the idea of adding ET and ACE (that would produce 520 + 135 = 655 – to give you FEE) you might want to try another quiz! And before you rate this quiz, just think how long it took to find words that fit these patterns...
