|No, Yankee Stadium wasn’t the only baseball stadium sent to extinction this year. In fact it wasn't even the only one in New York that was demolished into oblivion. Shea Stadium in Flushing, Queens, New York, had been home to baseball’s New York Mets since 1964, two years after the team's inception. Named after Bill Shea, the man who returned National League Baseball to New York after both the Giants and Dodgers departed, Shea Stadium in 2009 was deconstructed and the Mets moved next door to Citi Field. |
