Middle America
![]() |
Middle America is occasionally called Central America, but in actuality the regions within the Middle American realm comprise the republics that occupy the strip of the mainland between Mexico and Panama: Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. Although Panama itself is regarded as belonging to Central America, it should be noted that many Central Americans still do not consider Panama to be a part of their region because for most of of history that country was a part of South America's Columbia. Again, as it is defined, So Middle America includes all the mainland and island countries and territories that lie in between the United States and the continent of South America. See the map.
