I have been planning to do a "My Funny Valentine" version in "The Song Remains the Same" series almost since I started with the quizzes. Finally, it's Valentine's Day or close enough - who knows what day this will actually become available for quiz takers - to proceed with this installment. I almost selected a cute baby photo to introduce the quiz just because its Valentine's Day, but I ultimately went for the more relevant - albeit duller - sepia photo of the creators of our song. There are hundreds - maybe thousands even - of "My Funny Valentine" covers. In my relatively modest collection of recordings, I had about two dozen versions from which to select - far fewer after eliminating the too obscure to be fair answer versions. For the uninitiated in the series, my self-imposed rule is that I have to own a copy of any recording that is used as a correct answer in any of the quizzes. Source: Primarily listening to versions of "My Funny Valentine" and information contained in liner notes/informational inserts accompanying the albums on which these versions appear, supplemented by Wikipedia, the on-line encyclopedia.
