Nicknames of Historical People II
![]() |
Nicknames, or more properly, cognomens, are fanciful names, usually given by others, that were appended before or after a person’s name. For example: 1. Mary I of England is also known as "Bloody Mary". 2. Ivan IV of Russia is better remembered as "Ivan the Terrible". 3. Attila the Hun is called "Scourge of God". I will give some information on 10 historical personages, and I hope you have fun identifying their cognomens, some of which are really quite amusing!
