Old Wives' Tales: Traditional Remedies

We all have a Granny or an Auntie Arabella who is to be avoided when we have a medical complaint: she will want us to gargle with some noisome concoction or try to apply a poultice made with disgusting ingredients. Here are some traditional remedies straight out of "Traditional Remedies and Old Wives' Tales" by Arabella Vermaak – mind you, I do not recommend that anyone try them!
