A cliche is basically any phrase, sentence or expression that has been so overused it doesn’t even give you your two cents worth (see? there’s one right there) to use it. It is usually trite or commonplace, but if you really want to talk turkey (and there's another one) you probably use cliches as much as anyone else. As long as the cliche is familiar, you don’t have to cudgel your brains (another one) to get your idea across. So now that we have the facts straight from the horse’s mouth (you can stop counting cliche’s now!) let’s clear the decks, explore every avenue and throw our hats in the ring! I will list the meaning of the cliche in normal English and you chose the cliche I’m describing.
