Trivia Quiz Alhough he died nearly a hundred years ago, Ambrose Bierce is still considered one of the great cynics of American literature. His best known work, titled, "The Devil's Dictionary, contains Bierce's misanthropic definitions of commonly understood words. In this quiz, I'll give you the Biercean definition of a word, and you tell me which word Bierce was defining. Example: A period of cheating between two wars. Answer: Peace. Even if you have not read "The Devil's Dictionary," you'll enjoy matching wits with Bierce. But remember, Ambrose Bierce was a confirmed cynic. So if you're not sure which answer to choose, an excellent piece of advice is to select the most cynical sounding response. You'll usually be correct.
