Sharing our Misery-WWII Rationing

taco24Taco24 on 08/09/2008

SharingourMiseryWWIIRationing Photo Many necessities of life were rationed during World War II. The American Congress authorized rationing with an act on June 28, 1940. The Second War Powers Act of 1942 gave President Roosevelt the authority by use of the executive order to control the War Food Administration and the War Production Board. The Office of Price Administration received its authority from these two agencies. The needs of the ordinary consumer took a back set during this critical period. Sacrifices were made to ensure the victory of the allied nations.
This quiz is a testament to those sacrifices made by ordinary people in the Allied countries. The questions cover information relating to Britain and the United States.
*A few of the questions are lengthy, so plan accordingly.

Rationing in the US? You were a treasure trove compared with the UK! Luckily an uncle was on the merchant ships to & from NY and 'found' all sorts of goodies to bring back for us!

I loved your quiz. I was born in 1945 but remember my folks talking about it. I still have books of ration coupons in my parents old foot locker. Thanks for bring back a few memories of childhood
