I suspect that "St. James Infirmary", also known as "St. James Infirmary Blues" may not be as well known by name as the songs covered by my three previous "Song Remains The Same" quizzes. Still, there are hundreds of versions of the song, and if you are interested in music, you are likely to have heard it. Question 1 contains a substantial lyrical excerpt from the song, and the performers can be identified from the information contained in the questions, even without knowledge of the song. (Some familiarity with the performers will be necessary, but I have intentionally avoided asking about artists who are obscure.) This quiz covers the origins of "St. James Infirmary" and recordings by performers of the song in several genres. As is true of all of my "Song Remains The Same" quizzes, I own copies of all of the recordings that are correct answers. The image for this quiz is a page of sheet music for "St. James Infirmary". I once had a vinyl instrumental recording of this but the record broke. That's why CDs are so much better. They are harder to break. Really loved your quiz. I had no idea there were so many versions of this plaintive blues tune.
