|First, the bad news. All of the questions here have numeric answers, and some of them are horribly esoteric. I don't expect any of you to know most of them. I don't expect me to know them, and I've already looked up the answers!|
But I expect some of you to get 100% on this quiz, and have a good time doing so, because I've made it possible to do so. Frankly, you can likely get 100% without even reading the questions, once you know my little secret. Are you ready?
I trust many of you know what a Sudoku is. Check the picture -- it shows an empty Sudoku grid. A Sudoku is a 9 x 9 grid, in which each cell is filled with a digit from 1 to 9. When the Sudoku puzzle is completed successfully, each row, each column, and each of the highlighted 3 x 3 squares will contain each of those 9 digits exactly once.
So here's how to get 100%. Before starting, draw yourself a blank Sudoku grid. When you answer Question 1, fill the digits of your answer one at a time into the grid, starting from the upper-left corner, and moving to the right. Then when you answer Question 2, enter those digits, starting to the right of where you finished entering Answer 1. When you get to the end of a row in your grid, continue starting from the left end of the next row.
If all goes well, when you complete this quiz, the resulting grid will be a proper Sudoku. Thanks to websudoku.com for generating the grid I based this quiz on. And many thanks to my friends at Google, who were able to turn so many of these numbers into answers to questions.
