Judging by their number, quizzes dealing with the subject of suicide have proven to be fairly popular on this site. Indeed, one of my earlier quizzes, "American Writers, American Suicides", proved to have relatively more takers than my average quiz.

For this quiz - which also mines the vein of Literature - I present a mix of questions about suicides in novels (with one short story thrown in for good measure).

Ihis quiz presents the following types of questions: (1) identifying the title of a work from the character who committed suicide; (2) identifying the author of a novel featuring a suicide; (3) identifying characters in novels who committed suicide, and (4) identifying the means used by a fictional character to commit suicide. I have provided contextual information within the questions that may be of assistance in correctly identifying the 11 questions that make up this quiz.

The image introducing this quiz is one of the many renderings of the fictional Dorian Gray. Of course, a suicide occurs in Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray", and this quiz poses a question about that suicide.
