Sweet Sounds - Romantic Period Composers
Redbaron on 10/19/2005
|The Romantic Period of European classical music, running approximately from the early 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, produced some of the most beautiful music ever written. Ahh, those sweet sounds of Nocturnes, concert Waltzes, Impromptus, Liebestraume and the like. The music of the period ranged from the beautiful to the bizarre, all based on emotion and feeling rather than musical "correctness" (earlier Classical Period composers would have been shocked and scandalized at some of the work of their later brethren) and strict adherence to form.|
If you know your Romantic Period composers, this quiz will be pretty easy. Each question is a short description of some fact related to a composer or about some piece the composer wrote. All you have to do is figure out which composer is being referred to.
The picture at the left is of Frédéric Chopin, one of the giants of the era and my personal favorite.
