If you grew up in a certain era, you had to love those classic old “sword and sandal” epics set in ancient Greece or Rome-- okay, perhaps on occasion their fidelity to real history was, er, suspect, and the acting could run the gamut from excellent to downright cheesy--but they were usually immensely entertaining, action-packed, heavily dramatic, and done on a spectacular big-screen scale with casts of thousands!
