The first American newspaper comic strips were published in the 1890s. The topic of this quiz is these early comic strips. All of the comics covered by this quiz first appeared before 1920; however, most of these ran for decades and some of them are still in syndication today. In eight instances, you will be asked to identify the comic strip from the information presented in the question. In two instances, you are asked to name the creator of a comic strip from the information presented in the question. The image introducing this quiz is "The Yellow Kid", a character from the first regularly published newspaper comic strip.
