|Welcome to Quiz 4. Thanks to everyone who took my "The 60s - More than Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll" quizzes 1 through 6. You comments convinced me to continue with a set on the '70s.|
Thomas Wolfe called the seventies the "Me Decade" as our country started to become more self-focused. It was a decade of many changes, challenges and major events. See how much you remember from school, or your personal remembrances.
**Optional info on the picture. This is one of the most famous and recognizable images of the Vietnam War. The little girl is named Phan Thị Kim Phúc "Kim". Everyone sees she is running, crying and naked. What you can't see is her back is charred black from Napalm burns and burned clothes. She was not expect to survive (the photographer grabbed her seconds after the picture and took to the hospital). 14 months and 17 surgeries later she returned home. As an adult she left Vietnam to live in Cuba because of pressure to make her an anti-war symbol. She married and had 2 children. While on a trip with her family the plane stopped to refuel in Canada. They fled the plane and took asylum in Canada. Today she lives with her family in Toronto.
