The Age of the Enlightened Despots (1740-1790)

|Historical background: The Enlightenment figures known as the Philosophes encouraged a few monarchs to institute some reforms. Some modest reforms were seen in the streamlining of legal codes and extension of religious toleration. Yet, many still held views similar to Hobbes that people were simply not capable of ruling themselves. This particular quiz asks questions pertaining to these so-called monarchs known as the “Enlightened Despots”.|
