|The Axial Age is a term coined by the German philosopher, Karl Jaspers. According to his theory, the years from 800 BCE and 200 BCE were a unique period in which new and revolutionary thinking arose throughout the Eastern Hemisphere. The foundations for religious and philosophical thoughts that are still a part of world culture were laid at this time. This took place in spite of the fact that there was little contact between cultures.|
