The Revolutionary Axial Age

lindyjLindyj on 06/13/2007

TheRevolutionaryAxialAge Photo The Axial Age is a term coined by the German philosopher, Karl Jaspers. According to his theory, the years from 800 BCE and 200 BCE were a unique period in which new and revolutionary thinking arose throughout the Eastern Hemisphere. The foundations for religious and philosophical thoughts that are still a part of world culture were laid at this time. This took place in spite of the fact that there was little contact between cultures.

This quiz is designed to discover how much you know about this pivotal age in human history.

The accompanying picture is of Plato and a student. Plato lived c. 426 BCE to c. 348 BCE.
