The Best Classical Recordings: Concertos

It is time to move from Symphonies to Concertos. For those of you who took the first quiz you may recall my goal is to help you learn which recordings of some of the greatest pieces of classical music are considered the best by music critics.
In this quiz we will look at the concerto, a piece of music for one or more solo performers and orchestra. Concertos are written for virtually every instrument, but the most famous are those for piano or violin. The quiz will include several of each but with some other instruments at the end.
Again I encourage you to print off a copy of this quiz when you are done and take it to your favorite CD store or music download site to help build your own classical music library.
The sources I have relied on are those recordings that received the highest ratings from the American Record Guide. The Goode CD Guide. the BBC Music Magazine and the Penguin Guide to Recorded Classical Music.

This was a great quiz, and I agree with almost all of your picks. I wish you had mentioned the second and fourth Saint Saens piano concerti, which I have used for 40 years to introduce classical music to those who think they don't like it
