Global Geography of Wealth and Wealth Inequality

This quiz examines the geographical distribution of wealth and economic inequality, using income as a proxy for wealth. Far less data is available with respect to true wealth, meaning the net assets owned by an individual. The map used as the image for this quiz reflects worldwide per capita GDP adjusted to PPP, a concept explained in question 1. WARNING #1. Several quiz questions refer to the Gini Index. This is based on the Gini coefficient developed by Italian statistician Corrado Gini. For purposes of this quiz, you only need to know that a Gini Index score of 100 represents complete inequality in the distribution of income, i.e., one person within a geographic unit receives all the income, while an Index score of 0 means complete equality of income distribution, that is, everybody receives the same amount of income. WARNING #2. I create the type of quiz I like to take. This means that I do not consider how much time will likely be needed to complete a quiz in crafting it. For those who consider the "Sploofactor" to be an important personal statistic -- this is not the quiz for you. Many of the quiz questions will probably not have one obvious answer to most takers; however, people with a good general knowledge of the contemporary world will be able to successfully deduce the answers to most questions of this type from the information contained within the question. Also, for some of the questions of this type which otherwise might be hard to answer, I have also given an additional clue. Sources: I have used multiple sources, and each question references the source of information for that item. Most of the source material is available on-line.
