Longer term Sploofers may remember the original of this quiz of some 3 years ago.
Since then, however, numerous important new facts have arisen regarding Namyer Rus, and these are now included within this update:

Forgive me for being rather parochial with this quiz, but maybe if you treat it as a learning exercise rather than a scoring opportunity, history addicts should certainly find it fascinating.
Namyer Rus is the forgotten 'father' of my home English county of Surrey, the Saxon who forged a kingdom that stretched from the River Thames to the south coast.
His Saxon origins still remain in the names of numerous English counties - Sussex, Middlesex, Essex (South, Middle and East Saxons).and Surrey itself (the 'South Section').
But what of the man himself? That's what we'll be discovering.
You may not have heard of Namyer Rus but that should not put you off taking this quiz - an approximate knowledge of Saxon times and plenty of clues within the questions should give you all you need for 100%!
