|Aphrodisiacs (the word comes from Aphrodite, the god of sensuality and love) are foods, drinks, herbs and drugs and whatever other substances that are claimed to increase the sex drive, enhance arousal, and just generally put people in the mood. Skeptics however, suspect that most if not all of these slyly marketed aphrodisiacs are more mental suggestion than physical reality. Here is a look at some of the various highly touted and highly notorious aphrodisiacs throughout history and a look at the possible science that might be involved in the reason for their reputation.|
