The Top 10 Yiddishisms in English
![]() |
In the August 28, 2005 issue of The New York Times Magazine, William Safire listed in his "On Language" column, the top 10 Yiddishisms that have found their way into regular American English usage. I don't see "schmuck", "putz" or "oy vey!" here which I find surprising, but I definitely recognize all the words that are listed and so probably will you. This should be pretty easy. I'll give you the word and you pick the right definition from the list provided. That's all there is to it. That's the whole megilla. Good luck! Oh and please don't forget to schlep over to the ratings window and rate the quiz! Bon jour, Bill
