A journalist at first, Richard Whitely presented the very first edition of Countdown in 1982 and never missed a show from that day until the day he was rushed to hospital with pneumonia, and he found a place in the hearts of the British people in so doing! How much do you remember about this cuddly, cheerful presenter who was most famous for loud ties, terrible puns and a fight with a ferret?!
