Unusual January Holidays Part 1

This quiz idea came from a recent word puzzle entry (November 2008). The Platinum author said she wasn't going to do anything more with this topic and graciously gave the whole thing to me to do with what I wanted. Didn't want to step on toes if she was going to do more. So this will be a series about unusual monthly holidays. I'll give you some clues and you pick what holiday is being celebrated. The word "holiday" is used very loosely here; don't think "normal."
